The time to update your iOS apps is NOW

We've all seen them - apps which were released/updated back when iOS 6 was released and they've been left there by the developers with no updates since.

If your app is one of such apps, it might be time to update your apps. With the 5S, Apple introduced 64-bit chipsets in 2013. In 2015, Apple made it compulsory for any new apps/app updates to support 64-bit chips. But there are still many dinosaurs out there on the App Store which haven't been updated to do that.

Right now, if someone tries to install these older apps on the current set of iOS devices in the market, they'd see a prompt saying "The developer of this app needs to update it to improve its compatibility". However, with the 10.3 beta update, the message has apparently changed (according to this report). It now says the app will NOT work with future updates.

So if you have an app which hasn't been updated since 2013, now would be a good time to update your app and make sure it still works on the newer OS versions and devices. In all probability, the apps would stop working with the release of a new iOS version expected to be announced during WWDC 2017.
